Would you like to set-up sometime to discuss grief around the loss of your pet, including the specialized support I offer for grieving our beloved companions?
My family got a maltese, Moses, around 1999. We chose a hypoallergenic dog for my needs, but our sweet boy ended up being plagued with allergies of his own. He was loud and high-maintenance, but fiercely protective and a constant source of love.
One day in 2010, we woke up to Moses hardly moving and not eating. My heart sank, and we rushed him to the vet. I knew the worst news was coming.
Cancer had plagued him too, it seemed, and we put him down that day to avoid prolonged suffering.
I was more distraught than I ever imagined I would be. It seemed like death and loss were coming at me from every angle.
Nick was wearing a back and neck brace full time during the last nine months of his life, but as always, he was looking for ways to take care of me as I lost another source of comfort. With limited mobility, he insisted I go to a friends house while he painstakingly picked up Moses’ toys and bed and got them out of sight.
You deserve a space where the loss of your pet is taken seriously. This loss can feel not unlike the loss of a family member, particularly one that tends to be a source of unconditional love.
Together, we’ll honor the complexity of your grief without judgment. I recommend at least 3 1:1, one-hour sessions. We can have as many as you need.
Whether it’s a text, an email, a Zoom call, or a phone call, I will reach out to you on days like your pet’s birthday and the anniversary of their death to see if you need any support.
As an optional part of the package, I would love to see pictures, hear special memories, and help you design a meaningful memorial experience that reflects your special relationship with your pet.
By the end of our first three meetings, we will identify some of your core triggers, ways to cope when you’re feeling the loss, and outline the actions, thoughts, and behaviors that can support your healing.
Together, we’ll create a personalized plan for hope, healing, and rediscovery.
At Learning to Live Again, I honor the heartbreak, celebrate the love, and guide caregivers toward a life renewed with peace, purpose, and joy.
You are never alone. Let me walk this road with you.
